Mid-Sized Organization – Regaining Focus Through Alignment

Problem:

A mid-sized organization found itself struggling to manage its workload effectively. Employees felt overwhelmed with a constant stream of tasks, both from client requests and internal initiatives. Unclear priorities and a lack of understanding of the organization’s overall goals led to confusion and frustration. The absence of a proper task management system further exacerbated the issue, resulting in missed deadlines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) not being met.

Solution:

Recognizing the need for a change, the organization’s leadership team requested Laetare to facilitate a company-wide session. The session focused on three key areas:

  • Prioritization: Through collaborative discussions, the team collectively identified the most critical tasks and projects. This involved evaluating workload, client needs, and potential impact on the organization’s success.1
  • Organizational Purpose: The team agreed on a clear purpose for the organization, outlining how it serves the various stakeholders. This provided a unifying foundation for decision-making and fostered a sense of shared direction within the team.
  • Top Goals: Building upon the established purpose, the team collaboratively identified the top 3 organizational goals for the immediate future. These goals were SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) to ensure clarity and trackable progress.

Results:

Following the dedicated session, the organization experienced a significant improvement in focus and efficiency. The prioritization exercise allowed employees to dedicate time to the most impactful projects, reducing feelings of overload. With a clear understanding of the organization’s overall purpose and goals, individual contributions aligned with the bigger picture, fostering a sense of collective drive. Additionally, the organization implemented a new task management system to streamline workflows and improve communication. As a result, the company regained control of its workload, leading to a decrease in missed deadlines and a significant improvement in client satisfaction.
